Question: Doctor, my son has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I have seen one online advertisement on diabetes treatment and contacted them. They told me, they can help in diabetes reversal and asked me to subscribe their Rs5000 package. Shall I subscribe to that Rs5000 package? kindly guide me.
Answer:
1. Please do not subscribe to any diabetes management package by an online diabetes clinic. Most of these clinics are run by non-qualified doctors. All type 1 diabetics should be strictly managed by offline direct consultation and preferably by MD medicine/ endocrinology/pediatrics doctors.
2. Type 1 diabetes is caused by the destruction of insulin-producing cells. Due to the absence of insulin-producing cells type 1 diabetes can not be reversed by natural means. So if someone is saying they can reverse diabetes naturally and asking you to pay Rs5000, don't believe in them.
3. Type 1 diabetes can be easily managed by insulin. In addition to insulin, diet and exercise are very important to avoid diabetic complications.
